PROJECT NOTICE: Beginning Wednesday, October 26th, a contractor will begin locating subsurface utilities and placing DigSafe markings along Main Street in Burlington in preparation for soil boring operations related to the Great Streets Main Street project. This work will take place between 7AM-5PM
Beginning the week of October 31st, the contractor will begin drilling for the soil borings on Main Street, and will be moving block-by-block between Battery Street and South Union Street throughout the week. The work will take place between 7AM-5PM each day, beginning at Battery Street on Monday the 31st and progressing East each day.
DETAILS & IMPACTS: This work will occur primarily in the sidewalks, green belts, and parking stalls along Main Street, but may impact travel lanes at times. Motorists may encounter small delays or short-term traffic impacts, such as alternating one-way traffic, shoulder impacts, or work within intersections.
For DigSafe marking placement, the contractor will be completing three blocks of work per day. On October 26th, up to 25 parking spaces will be reserved with meter bags to complete this work on Main Street between Battery Street and St. Paul Street. On October 27th, up to 20 parking spaces will be reserved for the work between St. Paul Street and South Union Street. As the contractor moves East throughout each day, meter bags will be removed so that those spaces will be available for public use again as soon as the work is complete.
For drilling operations, the contractor will begin work on Battery Street on Monday, October 31st, and move East along Main Street throughout the week, ending the week at South Union Street. The contractor will be working through 1-2 blocks each day and require reservation of the same parking spaces indicated during the marking placement operation.
