Burlington - Tuesday 9/22-9/26: Re-paving intersection of S Prospect & College

Starting as early as Tuesday September 22nd, DPW's contractor will be re-paving the intersection of South Prospect and College. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7AM-7PM and Saturdays (if needed) 7AM-3PM.

A Full Road Closure of S Prospect from Main St to the entrance of 1 S Prospect and College St east of the Waterman parking lot entrance is planned for the week of September 21st to 25th to perform an asphalt repair of the intersection. Pedestrian crossings of S Prospect St at the intersection of College will be closed. The S Prospect crossings north of the intersection will be open. The College St crossing at the intersection with S Prospect will be closed but the crossing to the west in front of Waterman is anticipated to be open for use. The Wheeler House Lot entrance on S Prospect will be closed during the construction.

Burlington - Thursday 9/17: Night work planned at "Five Corners" intersection in the South End

Starting Thursday evening (9/17) at approximately 7PM, our contractor will excavate portions of the road across St. Paul street at two locations: in front of the neighborhood market (just north of Howard) and just south of Howard Street. This will allow us to run electrical conduit to install pedestrian signals for enhanced neighborhood safety. This project is in support of the redesign of the "Five Corners" intersection where we are adding pedestrian signals, crosswalks and "bumpouts" to shorten the crossing time for pedestrians. For safety reasons and to limit the disruption to heavier daytime travel, we have authorized this rare need for night work.

This work is likely to last through the morning and will likely bring additional noise and safety lighting in the roadway. There is the potential for a second night of work on Friday night as well. Traffic will not be allowed through this intersection during the overnight. The road will be closed to traffic on St. Paul and Howard on both approaches to the intersection. Note that residents living on S Winooski will be able to get off of your street by turning left onto Howard St. Detour signs will be in place to help you navigate. Pedestrian routes will be largely maintained, except that the "nose" between St. Paul and Winooski will be closed during this work.

Construction is dependent on weather and there is occasional need for schedule changes. We ask that you pay attention to any on-street signage or directions from on-scene crews.
