Yesterday afternoon, cyanobacteria was spotted at the Cove at Oakledge. The Cove remains closed today, and now Blanchard Beach shows signs of cyanobacteria and will be closed as well. All other beaches are open at this time. Our weekly e-coli tests all cam back looking fine. Water Quality Alert for 7/27/2020

Blanchard Beach in Oakledge park is closed to swimming. We have a Cyanobacteria blooms forming in several locations along the beach. Signs have been posted closing the area to swimming.

We will continue to monitor the beaches throughout the day as the blooms are quick to appear. The City of Montpelier will begin reopening State Street to Main and Main Street, both northbound & southbound as well through the intersection of State St.

East State Street will remain closed until further notice.

State Street and surrounding street, and Main Street and surrounding streets have barricaded access to vehicles and pedestrians due to a gas leak.

The Montpelier Fire Department and Police Department are aware of the situation and advice all motorist and pedestrians to avoid transit in these areas.
