Beginning on October 10th, the Burlington Electric Department will begin to upgrade underground electric cable on College St between S Winooski and Church St.
The traffic control plan is keep one way flagged alternating traffic on College St during working hours. Two way traffic will be restored after work hours and weekends. Sidewalk will remain open for pedestrian access.
There will be a short period of full road closure (scheduled for Wednesday 10/5) to set a large concrete vault with a 100 ton crane. College St will be closed at Church and Center. There will no parking in the closure zone for this day.
To make BED power grid more reliable and better suited for our Net Zero Energy goal, the
Burlington Electric Department (BED) is making improvements to our underground distribution
circuits and will be replacing the existing underground wires for our circuits running down
College St. This project will entail excavating portion of the road on College St between South
Winooski Ave and Church St to install a new utility hole and a new conduit ductbank.
All surfaces disturbed by construction will be returned to their original state.
