Home Ave Water Project: Intersection of QCP & Home Closed Friday 5/6

Burlington DPW Water Resources is underway with a significant repair to an old water main on Home Avenue at the intersection with Queen City Park Road (formerly Industrial Parkway), and extending just east of the railroad tracks.

Homve Ave Intersection Closure Details for Friday 5/6

Our contractor will need to close the intersection down again with no thru access on Friday May 6th, from 7AM to approximately 5PM. The work will involve replacing the existing piping that runs through this intersection. While unlikely at this time, we may need to close this intersection down again on Monday May 9th.

Additional Work and Detours Next Week

After this work is complete, our contractor will be excavating, installing access pits and then pipe relining on Home Ave between the tracks & Batchelder. Eastbound traffic will be detoured.

Details and times may change, depending on conditions, progress or unforeseen impacts. Please follow all on-street signage and travel safely. Estimated completion for this project is end of May.

 Thank you.

Background
This project is one of the final water main rehabilitation projects planned under the 2016 Sustainable Infrastructure Bond, which we paused due to Covid. In addition to water main rehabilitation, Water Resources has 8 miles of sewer and storm pipe rehabilitation planned under the Clean Water Resiliency Plan – the 2018 Plan authorized by voters to begin the long-term reinvestment into our wastewater & stormwater system.
